Welcome to Blog 2.0!

Hey everyone!

I am excited to announce the re-launch of my blog! I write “re-launch” because several years ago, I used to have one. However, a couple of factors led to its pause: first, I migrated my website from one hosting company to another and decided that it was going to be overwhelming transferring all those blogposts to the new website; second, and more importantly, I started writing my second book – The White Educators’ Guide to Equity: Teaching for Justice in Community Colleges – which derived much of its content from these blogposts; finally, writing this new book took over much of my dedicated writing time, so I didn’t restart the blog after migrating the site, and I instead focused on this new project.

Now, The White Educators’ Guide is out (buy it here), so I thought it’d be a great time to start writing blogposts again, and who knows, maybe they will inspire my next book! So what should you expect? My old blog was almost entirely centered on being a white educator in educational equity and justice spaces, but for this new iteration, I’d like to look more broadly at higher education, particularly community colleges. This isn’t to say that I won’t be writing about equity and justice – I definitely will be, as they are baked into my professional and research interests. But you can expect topics that go beyond the classroom to include institutional, state-level, and national issues. This will likely range from curricula and assessment practices I am using in class to institutional issues like dual enrollment and online education to larger higher education issues like transfer and acceleration. I expect the posts to be fairly wide-ranging.

And in order to keep the workload manageable, I will be posting monthly. And because I know you all have such limited time to read blogposts, I will be keeping my posts under 500 words (or at least, I will be trying very hard to!). And with that, please subscribe to my mailing list, so you can be informed when my first full-length blogpost hits the web in June.
